Several years later, however, Brazeau and collaborators, while working in Guillemin's laboratory on the attempted isolation of GH-releasing factor, again observed the inhibitory factor. With the background in methodology gained from earlier studies of TRH and GnRH, they were able, in a relatively short time, to isolate and identify a potent peptide from hypothalamic extracts, which inhibited GH release.
